“Der von 1996 bis 2001 in Carrara (Italien) lebende Bildhauer ist inzwischen unterwegs auf einer weltumfassenden, kreativen Odyssee. An verschiedensten Wirkungsstätten in Europa, Australien, den USA und Neuseeland arbeitete er überwiegend mit den lokalen anstehenden Gesteinen. Seit Frühling 2014 feiert er seine Widerkehr nach Europa und seine Residenz in Graz. Hier eröffnen sich aus der Zusammenarbeit mit „Stein und Grein“ neue Materialien wie Granit aus der ganzen Welt und verschiedene Arten von Marmor…
Für Timothy Mark symbolisiert Stein buchstäblich die Erde. Stein als plastisches Mittel bietet dem Publikum die Möglichkeit, mit der sichtbaren und spürbaren Entstehungskraft der Erde mitgerissen zu werden. Durch eine kräftige, kompromisslose Formsprache entblößt der Stein die Welt in permanente Spannung zwischen Zerstörung und Wiedergeburt, Gewalt und Zärtlichkeit; erzählt über die Entstehung der Kontinente, die genauso wie die Entstehung der Menschheit aus einer Einheit auseinandergedriftet sind und niemals aufgehört haben, sich zu bewegen. Das Betrachten und gar Berühren (respektvolles Berühren ist erlaubt!) der Skulpturen macht eine irdische als auch eine menschliche Wiedervereinigung in Harmonie erlebbar.”
